Sailing on Brilliant Design 12

Sunday I was lucky enough to race on Brilliant (design #12) in the Oyster Bay Spring Classic. This regatta is an eclectic mix of classic yachts and some spirit of tradition boats. It was a beautiful summer day.

Here is Nellie, a 1903 Herreshoff 60 gaff cutter crossing tacks with the 2004 Lyman Morse/S&S Payah Kun (ex-Fairweather - Design #2727).

Heres a better shot of Payah Kun.

Brilliant is surprisingly simple to sail. Once everything is set the sails are basically self tending/tacking with the exception of the jib.
